International Conference “Mesoscale Meteorology and Air Pollution”

Odessa State Environmental University is the unique higher educational estab-lishment in Ukraine. OSENU is the national educational centre which trains special-ists and conducts scientific investigations in the field of monitoring and protection of environment. During almost 75 years of its history our educational establishment made the considerable contribution to the development of hydrometeorological sci-ence and practice in former USSR, other countries, educated and trained many world-famed specialists in the branches of protection and monitoring of environment – ecol-ogy, hydrology, meteorology, agricultural meteorology, oceanography, hydrography etc. Thousands of its graduates are the citizens of some European countries, from Asia, Africa, Latin America, who successfully solve the problems of providing of branches of national economics by high-quality information including forecasting of condition of environment for life protection and effective activity of a man.

Many famous names of the teachers and the graduates have been added a glori-ous page to the history of our educational establishment. The university has acquired glorious traditions, has found its unique face, has created famous scientific schools. It has rich material basis, the trained lecturers and scientific workers whom any higher educational establishment of Ukraine can be proud of! Dozens of diploma of interna-tional competitions which are obtained by the students and scientific workers of our university confirm the world level preparation of our specialists.

On the basis of our university two scientific methodical commissions of Minis-try of Education and Science of Ukraine and specialized Academic Council for de-fence of doctoral and candidate theses for 4 scientific professions work here. The sci-entific journals “Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Journal” and “The Bulletin of Odessa State Environmental University” are published by our establishment.

All these achievements are the result of selfless labour of many generations of the lecturers, the scientific workers, the students, the graduates!

I am proud of having graduated from our university and that the collective has entrusted me with the management of the university since 1994. I am pleased to invite you on our site of Odessa State Environmental University. Some of you will remem-ber their student years, the others would like to get acquainted with our university closer and the thirds will continue and develop our traditions in some time.
